Frequently Asked Questions
SLYDRs are adjustable pickleball paddle weights that attach to the edge of your paddle, allowing you to fine-tune weight, balance, stability and feel without permanently modifying your paddle. They let you strategically add weight to different areas of your paddle. Where you position them determines how they affect stability, balance, swing weight and overall paddle feel.
Weight added in different locations produces different results. Moving weight higher on the paddle generally has a greater effect on swing weight and power, while positioning it closer to the handle can add mass and stability with less impact on how heavy the paddle feels during your swing.
It depends on what you're trying to accomplish. As a general tuning concept:
- Higher on the paddle: More noticeable effect on swing weight, plow-through and power.
- Around the sides: Can increase stability and resistance to twisting on off-center hits.
- Lower toward the throat: Adds weight and stability while generally having less impact on swing weight.
Traditional tape is adhesive-backed and normally requires cutting, measuring and replacing the tape whenever you want to change your setup. SLYDRs give you a cleaner, reusable and adjustable approach to paddle weighting.
There's no universal answer. Start with a simple setup, play with it, and make one change at a time. This makes it much easier to identify what actually improves the feel of your paddle.
Paddle shapes and edge-guard profiles vary between manufacturers and models, so compatibility can vary. Check SLYCE's compatibility information for your specific paddle before ordering.
Absolutely. SLYDRs allow you to tune weight around the paddle perimeter, while a SLYCE SpeedCap adds weight at the bottom of the handle. SLYDRs, SpeedCoins and SpeedCaps can be used as part of a complete paddle-tuning system. Each gives you another way to control where mass is located on your paddle.
